 
The 3994 storage system combines the most advanced 4Gb/s Fibre Channel (FC) technology with our time-proven designs for enterprise-class RAID storage to create a fully-featured storage system optimized for the unique requirements of the mid-range customer. Its robust functionality, affordable entry-point, online scalability, intuitive administration, bullet-proof reliability and exceptional performance value sets a new standard for mid-range disk.
Housed in a 3U, 19” rackmount enclosure module, the 3994 Storage System consists of two dual-active controllers, eight 4Gb/s FC host/SAN interfaces, 4GB of cache, redundant power and cooling and up to 16 high performance FC and/or high capacity 3Gb/s SATA II disk drives. For additional capacity and performance, the 3994 can directly connect up to six additional 4Gb/s FC4600 drive modules for a total of 112 drives. The back-end architecture is based on switched loop technology for performance, isolation integrity and diagnostic analysis benefits.
The 3992 storage system shares all the 3994’s best features – including 4Gb/s connectivity, feature-rich functionality and uncompromising availability and reliability – yet offers fewer host connections (4) and reduced cache (2 GB) for the entry-level and lower mid-range markets.
