The 6498 controller is based on Engenio’s most sophisticated and highest-performing platform to date. Its XBB™ architecture boasts 4 Gb/s Fibre Channel drive interfaces, high-speed data buses, and multiple processing elements to optimize resource utilization.
Each 6498 controller has two 10 Gb/s InfiniBand host-side interfaces (four per dual-controller storage system) and can attach directly into existing HPTC server clusters utilizing InfiniBand as a server clustering interconnect.
Two 6498 controllers are integrated into a controller module and combined with one or more drive modules to create a fully featured storage system. These dual controller systems are fully-redundant and support up to 224 Fibre Channel or Serial ATA (SATA) disk drives.
